A Word From Your Friendly Neighborhood Editors (and Book Smugglers)

Octavia Cade is no stranger to horror. We first fell in love with her writing as readers (Trading Rosemary, the first novella we read from the author, is exquisite), so when Octavia submitted short stories (The Mussel Eater) and essays (Food and Horror) to us, we were both thrilled and honored to be working with such a talented storyteller, and to watch her work grow and become deeper, darker, and more powerful. The Convergence of Fairy Tales is a tale of revenge and of rage, and the darkest tale we have edited and published. Octavia’s novella–the debut novella to kick off our 2017 Novella Initiative!–is a reimagining of 5 fairy tales: Sleeping Beauty, The Snow Queen, Snow White, The Frog Princess, and Rapunzel. Each story builds upon the one prior; each story takes the premise of its source fairy tale, twists it, subverts it, beats it to a bloody pulp, and relishes in the delight of unbridled vengeance.

The Convergence of Fairy Tales is a tale fitting for Halloween, and we cannot wait to share it with you all.
