SFF in Conversation

SFF in Conversation is a new monthly feature on The Book Smugglers in which we invite guests to talk about a variety of topics important to speculative fiction fans, authors, and readers. Our vision is to create a safe (moderated) space for thoughtful conversation about the genre, with a special focus on inclusivity and diversity in SFF. Anyone can participate and we are welcoming emailed topic submissions from authors, bloggers, readers, and fans of all categories, age ranges, and subgenres beneath the speculative fiction umbrella.

Do you know of a particular author, blogger or topic you’d like to see featured on SFF in Conversation? Let us know! Drop us a line or use the form below.

Hello just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The text in your article seem to be running off the screen in Safari. I’m not sure if this is a formatting issue or something to do with web browser compatibility but I figured I’d post to let you know. The design look great though! Hope you get the problem resolved soon. Thanks|

As an author of two SF trilogies, “The Clones and Mutants Series” and “The Chaos Chronicles,” and an anthology of speculative fiction, I’d like to commend you on this initiative. I’ve been an SF addict since I discovered the genre in the sixth grade! As a boomer, I’m more into the dystopian subgenre and prefer hard SF, but I stray into F occasionally (not in my writing, though). I hope to see some good discussions here, especially about SF/F readers’ preferences–for example, is hard SF dead? Keep the new ideas coming!
