On the Tube…

With the season finale of LOST last Thursday, if you’re a fan like we are, you may just find yourself with a huge hole in your weekly television schedule. NEVER FEAR! Or actually, perhaps you should, because tonight marks the premiere of new horror show…

Fear Itself on NBC @ 10/9 central

I am pretty darn excited for this show. It has been a while since a good, straight-up horror mini has been on network television, and I have some high hopes.

Fear Itself is a provocative, new 13-episode suspense and horror anthology series set to push the boundaries of this classic genre through a host of provocative talent, both in front of and behind the camera, including award-winning, sought-after directors John Landis (“An American Werewolf in London”), Darren Bousman (“Saw II, III and IV”) and Ronny Yu (“Bride of Chucky“); actors Brandon Routh (“Superman Returns”), Shiri Appleby (“Charlie Wilson’s War”), Elisabeth Moss (“Mad Men”), Cynthia Watros (“Lost”), Eric Roberts (NBC’s “Heroes”) and John Billingsley (“Star Trek: Enterprise”); and writers, including Joe Gangemi (“Wind Chill,” the novel “Inamorata”), Steve Niles (“30 Days of Night”) and Dan Knauf (“Carnivàle,” “Supernatural”).
The series is produced by Lionsgate in association with IE Indy TV, and was created by Mick Garris. Emmy Award winner Andrew Deane (“Masters of Horror”) is executive producer. Peter Block is co-executive producer; Grant Rosenberg is supervising producer; and Adam Goldworm, Ben Browning and Jonathan Hackett are producers.

Doesn’t that just sound delicious?! Note that LOST fans get a minifix–Cynthia Watros, aka LIBBY!, is one actress on the show; not to mention the other wonderful actors such as Superman and Liz (yes I watched Roswell. Come on, I know some of y’all are fans too!) are also slated to make appearances.

Tonight’s episode is called “The Sacrifice”, with the following synopsis: “Deadly secrets are revealed when four criminals find themselves stranded in an abandoned fort with a trio of seductive sirens.”

“The Sacrifice” was written by Mick Garris of Critters 2, The Fly II, *Batteries Not Included (*dies*), Hocus Pocus fame–Hocus freaking Pocus!–and also has worked on a number of Stephen King tv projects, most notably (in my mind anyways) Sleepwalkers (Stephen King’s first written for television work, one of my all time fave TV Movies!) and Quicksilver Highway. Oh yeah, and he also put together the wonderful Masters of Horror antho–there are some real gems in there, I *highly* recommend everyone give at least one of these a shot.

The episode is directed by Breck Eisner (yes, he’s the son of THAT Eisner, Disney scamming CEO Michael Eisner), who is pretty new to the directing game but has Sahara under his belt–and he’s working on the 2009/2010 remakes of classics Creature from the Black Lagoon (*dies*), The Crazies, and Flash Gordon!

The episode stars Jeffrey Pierces, Jesse Plemons, Stephen Martines, Rachel Miner, and Mircea Monroe.

After all this gushing, I sincerely hope the episode doesn’t suck (or that NBC gets cold feet and pulls the show after minimal advertising and then finding out ratings are low because no one knows that the show exists).

Pierce, you are gonna get burned all night

Annnnnnnd, also tonight: GAME 1 OF THE LAKERS-CELTICS NBA FINALS!!!!!

I just saw this video at TrueHoop. This is probably the height of dorkdom…but who am I kidding?! Batman and the Lakers? Two of my favorite things–GENIUS! KG makes a hilarious Joker.

    *sigh*

It’s alright, don’t count us out yet..we’ll do better on Sunday. It’s all good, we just gotta do like Mariah Carey said, we gotta…shake it off, that’s all.

We’ll come back, we’re better than that so we’ll be good.

    GO LAKERS!

Exactly Rowena. We *could* have won that game, with Kobe doing only so-so and Odom being a non-factor. I wasn’t expecting us to take Game 1, but I have hopes for Game 2!

*also, what did you think of Paul Pierce’s wonderful amazing regenerative knee? They must have Mr. Miyagi back in the locker room or something *rolls eyes* Puh-lease.

Whatever. All we can do is play our hearts out. GO LAKERS!!!!!!!!!!
