Ana here! We interrupt our regular programing (to be resumed shortly)1 to talk about our upcoming Loncon shenanigans!
Thea arrives in England tonight (woohoo) and I am meeting her in London where we proceed to have four hardcore days of work (for reals, we have an agenda and everything), con-attending on Saturday and Sunday, and finishing it all off in grand fashion with the Hugo Awards (we are Best Fanzine nominees! WISH US LUCK).
We will try to attend as many panels as possible and report back on Twitter ( you can find our tentative schedule HERE).
Thea will also be sitting on a couple of panels and we are holding court on Saturday night, co-hosting the Blogger Voltron.

YA on the Big Screen

The YA publishing boom has been accompanied by a boom in film adaptations, but while some have seen commercial success others have stalled. What does it take to transition from book to film? Are there any special considerations when working with a young adult story? Modern YA is a genre with distinctive tropes — how are these being transferred to the screen? How is “classic” YA adapted in that context? Is this to the original story’s benefit or detriment? Which YA books have successfully made the transition–for good or ill? What stories would make great films, but haven’t yet been done?

There are many different approaches to book blogging: some focus on news and announcements, running author interviews and ARC giveaways supported by publishers; others concentrate on reviewing and opinion pieces; still others are devoted to raising awareness of certain types of writing, like SF Mistressworks or the World SF Blog. Our panel discusses how they chose their blogs’ format and focus, how the blogs evolved over time, and how they found their ‘voice’ and their audience.
Blogger Voltron!
On Saturday evening from 9:00pm at the Fan Village we are co-hosting, along with Justin of Staffer’s Musings and Jared and Anne of Pornokitsch, the Blogger Voltron. It’s a very informal get-together, open to all. Basically, we will all be hanging out together around the bar area (where else) and you (yes, YOU) are very welcome to join us.
If you are attending the con and see us walking around do say hello! On Saturday, I plan on wearing my Very Pink Dress which is basically a neon sign so you really can’t miss me.
