Rebuilding Tomorrow: Cover Art Reveal

Hello!!! We are delighted today to be hosting the awesome folks from Twelfth Planet Press and the cover reveal for their new SFF anthology! Without further ado…

Thank you for joining us for the cover reveal for Rebuilding Tomorrow, an SFF anthology edited by Tsana Dolichva, coming in 2020 from Twelfth Planet Press.

Rebuilding Tomorrow is the sequel to Defying Doomsday (2016), a fierce and thought-provoking anthology of apocalypse fiction featuring disabled and chronically ill protagonists, proving it’s not always the “fittest” who survive – it’s the most tenacious, stubborn, enduring and innovative characters who have the best chance of adapting when everything is lost.

With Rebuilding Tomorrow, we continue this theme further into the future, looking at the hard work that comes with reconstructing (and re-inventing) society and the world after a doomsday level event. Once again, it will be characters with disability and/or chronic illness in the centre of the narrative, being the best heroes they can be given limited resources. Some of our favourite Defying Doomsday stories will even have sequels! We want to fill this book with stories of anger, ingenuity, realism and most of all, hope.

Rebuilding Tomorrow is crowdfunding right now on Pozible. Pledge now for great rewards, and to help make this important book a reality.

We’re also open for submissions until January 2020! Get your stories in to us when you can. We are keen to publish disability #ownvoices as much as possible, but we don’t require you disclose personal information to us if you’re not comfortable with that.

If we reach our funding target, we’ll be launching Rebuilding Tomorrow in New Zealand at Worldcon 2020! We hope many of you will be there.

And now, without further ado…

This glorious cover was painted for us by Geneva Bowers, who won the Hugo for Best Artist in 2018. She was also nominated for a BSFA award in the same year. Geneva has illustrated for Medium, Strange Horizons and Crossed Genres, as well as many book projects. She is the author and illustrator of HoverGirls, a webcomic about magical girl baristas who fight monsters while figuring out their life. We’re so excited that Geneva came on board with this project!

You can pledge to support Rebuilding Tomorrow for an enamel pin, a pre-order of the book as paperback, ebook or hardback, or other great rewards. We also have brand-new pledge options of Rebuilding Tomorrow mugs, and canvas prints of this beautiful artwork. On Pozible (a different platform to Kickstarter), you can pledge multiple times, mixing and matching the tiers as much as you like.
