We are over at Kirkus today for our regular column! It’s Thea’s turn today, with a review of Seafire by Natalie C. Parker.

A novel about lady pirates on the high seas, in a future post-apocalyptic style SFF world (!), Seafire has its hits and its misses. Go over to Kirkus to get the full review.

Thea James is one half of the maniacal duo behind The Book Smugglers. She is Filipina-American, but grew up in Hawaii, Indonesia, and Japan. A full-time book nerd who works in publishing for her day job, Thea currently resides in Astoria, Queens with her partner and rambunctious cat. COOKING FOR WIZARDS, WARRIORS & DRAGONS (available August 31, 2021) is her first cookbook.

    My search for a good fantasy novel by an Indian author ended when I found INKREDIA Luwan of Brida by Sarang Mahajan. This is a story of Luwan, a teenager from a village named Brida in the Inkredia universe created by the author. Luwan of Brida is a rebellious teenager who refuses to pay taxes and is suddenly faced with a fight or flight situation. He chooses to run away with his sister Meg. However, his journey takes a weird, more dangerous turn when he realizes that he is being chased by non-human assassins. He is scared and unsure about why he is being chased by them. He faces grave dangers with his sister by his side along with Kiliarn, a mysterious and friendly guy who turns out to be a great partner.
